Stainless Steel Sink Product Care
- To clean your sink, use the mildest cleaning procedure that will do the job effectively.
- Clean sink thoroughly and flush with water after using detergents and sterilizers.
- Never leave solutions in the sink overnight.
- Any cleaning or scrubbing to remove stubborn stains from the inside of the sink should follow the direction of the grain line.
- Never use ordinary steel wool. Only use stainless steel wool or scouring pads.
- Do not use steel scrapers to clean stainless steel.
- Use solutions only in strength recommended by manufacturer. Failure to do so may cause severe damage. Solutions with high chlorine content, chlorine derivative or bleach products are not recommended for use on stainless steel sinks as these products will cause pitting or corrosion.
- Avoid spillage or splashing of full strength chemicals directly on stainless steel surfaces. Always put water in sink before adding sanitizing agents or soaps.
- Standing water may build up mineral deposits. The quality of water will vary from location to location. Build up’s are particularly evident where water may have a high mineral content.
- Should a mineral deposit build up over time, use a weak solution of vinegar and water to remove the deposit and follow this by flushing the surface with water.
- At times, you may notice a slight discoloration caused by iron in your water or by strong detergents. Clean at once with any strong cleansing agent.
- Stainless steel requires oxygen to maintain its rust resistant properties. The combination of oxygen in the presence of chromium provide a tenacious, invisible and highly protective chrome oxide film on the surface. For this reason, your stainless products should be kept clean and free of any possible obstructions to this natural process.
- Do not leave any steel or cast iron cookware or implements anywhere on the sink for extended periods of time. Rusting and staining may result.
- Do not leave rubber dish mats, wet sponges or cleaning pads in the sink overnight as they will trap water underneath which could lead to staining and discoloration of the sink surface.
- Certain foods such as pickles, mayonnaise, mustard and salt laden foodstuffs can cause pitting of the sink surface if left unattended for prolonged periods.
For First Time Users
- Do not leave for prolonged periods any water running from a new faucet or new piping or new hose that may contain metal, chemical or mineral particles which will go rust and leave the rust stain on the surface of the sink. When a new faucet is installed, run the water for a couple of minutes until the waterway is clean, clean also the filter in the faucet spray, rinse and clean the sink completely, then wipe the sink until it is dry using a soft dry cloth.
Eco-Granite Sink Product Care
- Clean your granite sink by using warm water and a soft cloth, sponge or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
- Non-abrasive liquid cleaners and detergents can also be used.
- Hard water, calcium and lime deposits can be removed with white vinegar on a paper towel and rinsing after 20 minutes.
- To restore luster and extend time between cleanings, Weiman’s Granite Polish is recommended.
- Staining liquids such as dyes and vegetable juices should be rinsed off as soon as possible.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, metal scouring pads, bleach or alkali cleaners such as ammonia.
